Paul Burmeister grew up in his birthplace Anklam, where he attended the Gymnasium. In Berlin he studied painting at the Academy under Julius Schrader and others. At the start of his career he painted romantic history paintings. From 1874 he lived and worked in Munich. In the 1880s he was successful with his genre paintings. He died in Munich in 1923. |
