Eduard Stein was the only son of Johann von Treuenfeld. He studied law in Olmütz. After he returned home to his father he secretly left when he was eighteen years old to pursue a career as an actor in Vienna. He appeared at the Theater in der Josefstadt and subsequently he wandered through Hungary and Siebenbürgen. In 1814 he returned to Vienna where he was engaged at the Theater in der Leopoldstadt. In 1815 he moved on to the Burgtheater. In 1817 he left Vienna and he performed in Brünn, Prague, Berlin and Hamburg. In 1817 he was engaged at the newly established Stadttheater in Leipzig. In 1826 he returned to the burgtheater for guest appearances. In 1827 his health failed and he died in 1828 in Leipzig. |
