Carolina Inverzinio's was the daughter of a government official. In Florence she married lieutenant Marcello Quinterno in 1881. They had one daughter, Marcella.

In 1877 she had published her first novel, "Rina o l'angelo delle Alpi". Her books were loved and hated at the same time. She wrote 123 books and her readers were passionate about her work. But the plots of her stories of love and hate and betrayal and revenge were often hardly plausible and literary criticism was hard on her.

However, her work was adapted for theatre, television and movies in later years. Her work was also very successful in South America where it was brought by Italian immigrants.
