Daughter of Samuel Pray, who worked for the Broadway Theatre in New York and died there of an accident in 1848. Maria joined the ballet group of the Chatham Theatre in New York when she was fifteen years old. She married the actor Charles Westayer and after his death in 1848 she married the actor Barney Williams on 24 November 1849. Together they formed a successfull acting couple. After intitial success in San Francisco they performed in England and New York. Her sister Malvina Pray was also an actress. Family • Husband: Williams, Barney (1849-) |
