Julius Schaub was an early member of the NSDAP. He participated in Hitler's putsch of 1923 and was imprisoned together with him in Landsberg. He became his personal assistant and adjutant and held this position until Hitler's death.

At the end of the war Hitler sent him to Bavaria to destroy his personal documents. He did so in Munich and in Berchtesgaden before he was arrested by the Americans in 1945. He was released in 1949 because no war crimes were detected. He worked as an apothecary afterwards and died in Munich in 1967.
