Mezzo-soprano Elizabeth Masson studied singing with Ann Stanton Smart and with Giuditta Pasta in Italy. She debuted at Ella's Second Subscription Concert on 11 March 1831 in the Argyll Rooms. Her social skills attributed to her popularity as a singer at private concerts.

After that she frequently sang at concerts of the Philharmonic Society. In 1839 she was the founder of the Royal Society of Female Musicians and was its treasurer until her death. Later in her career she worked as a voice teacher and she composed songs to the work of Walter Scott, Lord Byron, Adelaide Procter and others. She died in 1865 in London.
