Younger daughter of Sir Walter Scott and Margaret Charpentier. In 1818 she was painted by William Nicholson. She took care of her sick mother and then of her sick father. Scott died in 1832 and in that year she received a yearly grant of 200 pounds from king William IV. But her own health was failing rapidly and in 1833 she died of brain fever in her sister Sophia Lockhart's house in London. She was buried at the recently opened Kensal Green Cemetery. Her sister was buried beside her in 1837. |
