The publishing house Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht was founded in 1735 in Göttingen by the Dutch businessman Abraham Vandenhoeck (1700-1750). After his death his widow Anne, born Anna Parry in London, continued the business with the help of the bookseller Carl Friedrich Ruprecht. After she died in 1787 Ruprecht led the business until his own death in 1816. |
