Lujza Farkas was the daughter of the actors Janós Farkas (1789-1820) and Klára Fodor. After her father's death she was taken care by the actor and director Károly Fejér. She entered the stage and performed in Vesprém, Pest, Subotica and Bratislava. In 1834 she married the actor Dániel Szathmáry (d.1848). From 1842 to 1844 she was engaged in Györ. In 1844 she went to the National Theatre in Budapest where the actor József Szigeti was contracted as well. In March 1848 she publicly sang the national song in revolutionary circumstances.

In 1851 she moved to Clij-Napoca with her second husband Ferdinand Laczkóczy. In 1857 she returned to the National theatre where she performed until 1891. She died in 1893 in Budapest.
