Daughter of opera singer and film comedian Leo Slezak. Her mother was Elisabeth Wertheim, an actress. When she was ten years old she sang at the choir of the church in Tegernsee, Bavaria. Her father educated her voice and she was able to play the violin and other instruments.

From 1930 to 1933 she held an engagement at the Staatsoper in Berlin anf from 1935 to 1943 she was a member of the cast of the Städtischen Opernhause in Berlin-Charlottenburg. After the Second World War she toured around the world. She died in 1953 in Rottach-Egern, Bavaria.
