Maria von Tasnady was educated at Budapest University, where she studied German and history of literacy. In 1931 she was elected Miss Hungary and her prize was a trip to Berlin. There she had her first movie part in "Durchlaucht amüsiert sich" (1932). She took acting lessons and held engagement at the staatstheater in Oldenburg and at the Schillertheater in Berlin. More parts in German movies followed. In 1937 she was in the propaganda movie "Menschen ohne Vaterland". Her first husband was producer Bruno Duday, but they divorced and in 1938 she married director Géza von Radványi, with whom she returned to Hungary in 1939. She continued her career in Hungary and Italy. In 1948 she left Hungary for Italy and France and in 1954 she settled in Munich. There she worked for Radio Free Europe for 21 years. |
