Arnold Berliner studied physics in Breslau and graduated in 1886. He worked for the research department of AEG. Paul Ehrlich, Richard Willstätter and Gustav Mahler were good friends. In 1912 he became the editor of the new magazin Naturwissenschaften, based on the British magazine Nature. He published the "Physikalischen Wörterbuch" together with Arnold Scheel in 1924. In 1935 he was removed from his post by the nazis. His attempts to emigrate from Germany failed and in 1942 he committed suicide just before he would be deported to an extermination camp.
