Pauline Ulrich was the daughter of the musician Albert Ulrich of the Hoftheater in Berlin. She studied acting under Auguste Creglinger and had small parts at the Hoftheater. She was engaged in Stettin in 1856 but soon moved to Hanover where she stayed until she was engaged at the Hoftheater in Dresden in 1859. There she worked until 1914 and became the favourite actress of Karl May. She became a Court Actor in 1884 and in 1909 she was awarded a professorship. She died in 1916 in Dresden. There is a plaque for her at her former home at Körnerwg 12 in Loswitsch, Dresden.
