Leopold Szondi studied Medicin and Psychology in Budapest. After his studies he researched diseases of the mind and he is the founder of the concept of fate analysis. The Szondi test was named after him.

In 1944 he published "Schicksalsanalyse" ("Fate analysis"), the first of five volumes on the subject. In 1944 he was also deported to concentration camp Bergen-Belsen with his family. After American intellectuals paid a large sum to Adolf Eichmann he was released to Switzerland, where he continued to live after the war.
