Anna Dillon as born in England and came with Maria Pavlovna from St. Petersburg to Weimar. She was her lady in waiting as well as her friend. After she died in 1823 she was buried at the Kassengewölbe at the Jakobskirchhof in Weimar. After the new cemetery at the Frauentor was opened a new monument shaped as a Roman sarcophagus was erected for her there. It was designed by Clemens Wenzeslaus Coudray.
