Harriet Grove was the daughter of Thomas Grove and Charlotte Pilfold. She was a cousin of Percy Bysshe Shelley, who apparantely became infatuated with her when she visited him and his family at Field Place in 1809. Before and after they met they exchanged many letters. After the content of Shelley's letters became stranger her parents advised her to stop the correspondence. Not much later she was engaged to be married with William Helyer, a local farmer. She maried him on 14 Nobember 1811 in Donhead St Andrew, Wiltshire. William Hawker Helyar and Anne Helyar were two of their fourteen children. In 1821 Helyer's father died and they inherited his fortune. Her husband died in 1841. Later in life she became increasingly religious. She died in 1867.
