Carolina Primodi was the daughter of Francesco Primodi. She was educated as a painter by Giuseppe Guizzardi. Her love for the sculptor Cincinnato Baruzzi was opposed, but they married on 7 July 1836 at the Church of San Martino in Bologna. She gave up her career to support his and was his secretary, artistic consultant, confidant and asset manager. She accompanied her husband to exhibitions in Paris and London. In turn Baruzzi had to protect her for her family. When Baruzzi returned from Turin to Bologna he found her seriously ill. She was sent to a house of friends in Florence, where she died on 8 August 1860.
