Karol Jetting was born in Bratislava and is now known as the Slovakian Robinson. He went to Vienna and to London to work as a diplomat. During a mission to West Africa his ship was wrecked. He survived but he was sold as a slave. an Englishman bought his freedom and he returned to London.

His next mission would be in Marseilles. After he sailed from England his ship was wrecked again and he for the second time he was sold in slavery. After he was bought free again the ship that would bring him back was attacked by pirates near Malta. This time he jumped into see and he reached an uninhabited island. There he lived alone for several months until he was discovered by a ship.

He returned to Bratislava and their he married his great love who had been waiting for him for all these years. He died in 1790 in Bratislava.
