Édouard Nadaud was the son of paper merchants. His father also taught music. Édouard studied the violin at the Conservatory in Paris under Cahrles Dancla. In 1881 he shared a first prize with Arma Harkness and Wolff, a Dutchman.

He was musical director of the Orchestre de la Société des concerts du Conservatoire for eleven years. From 1900 until his death in 1928 he was professor of violin at the conservatory. In 1905 he received the Légion d'honneur.
