Aurelio Milloss studied with Nicola Guerra, Anton Romanowsky, Victor Gsovsky, Enrico Cecchetti and others. In 1928 he was engaged by the Staatsoper in Berlin as a dancer.

Afterwards he became ballet master in many places: Hagen, Duisburg, Breslau, Augsburg and Düsseldorf. In 1936 he was appointed ballet master of the Hungarian State Opera. In 1938 he moved on to the Opera of Rome and in 1946 La Scala in milan followed. He also headed the opera of Cologne and the Staatsoper in Vienna.

In total he was the choreographer for over 170 ballets. Often he worked in Italy where he promoted the work of contemporary artists and tried to gain acceptance for ballet as a serious form of art and not merely entertainment. He died in 1988 in Rome, aged 82.
