Carl von Schirach was the son of Karl Friedrich von Schirach, a former major in the US Army who fought in the Civil War. Carl married Emma Middleton Lynah Tillou (1872-1944) from Philadelphia. He was officer in the army and from 1909 to 1918 he was also the head of the Court Theatre in Weimar. He also was a chamberlain to the Grand Duke of Weimar. In 1935 he became the general manager of the Nassauisches Landestheater in Wiesbaden and he held this post until 1943. His daughter was the opera singer Rosalind von Schirach and his son was the nazi youth leader Baldur von Schirach. |
