Hans Carl Müller started as an actor around 1910. In 1917 he worked for the Münchner Kammerspiele under Otto Falckenberg and there he worked with Friedrich Kayßler, Max Schreck and Elisabeth Bergner. Here he met the Austrian actress Martha Newes who became his wife in 1916 or 1917.

He moved on to Berlin where he acted in cabaret and to Cologne and Hamburg where he worked as a director. In 1933 he was engaged in Mannheim. After the theatres closed during the war he worked in Kassel and after the war he became the manager of the Staatstheater in Kassel. Towards the end of his life he worked in München again and there he died in 1960.
