Hubert Beckers studied law and philosophy in Munich. Friedrich von Schelling was among his teachers. He was promoted in 1830 and in 1831 he became a private teacher of philosophy in Munich. In 1832 he obtained a professorship in Dillingen, where Martin Deutinger was one of his pupils. In 1847 he became professor of philosophy in Munich. In 1853 he became a member of the Bavarian Academy of Science.

He is best known for his writings on the work of Friedrich von Schelling. In 1861 he published "Über Die Bedeutung Der Schelling'schen Metaphysik" and in 1865 "Schelling's Geistesentwicklung In Ihrem Inneren Zusammenhange" was published. He was also interested in music and wrote several compositions.
