Friedrich Wilhelm Rohdich was the son of a Prussian officer who came from Sweden. His education was supported by king Friedrich Wilhelm I. He made himself a name during the Seven Years War and he was awarded the Order of Merity by king Friedrich II.

In 1779 he became commander of Potsdam where he did his best to relieve the poor. In 1787 he became minister of War and a member and in 1794 he became a General of the Infantry. He died in 1796 in Berlin.
