As a child, Marie Seebach was already on the stage. She was educated
as a concert singer at the conservatory in Cologne, but she
always restricted herself to acting. She was succesul in Hamburg
and Munich and was engaged at the Burgtheater in Vienna.|
In 1859 she married the singer Niemann in Hanover. He followed her to Berlin in 1866, but soon a divorce followed. In 1886 she became a member of the Royal Theatre in Berlin. During her career she played important parts like Gretchen (Goethe), Mary Stuart and Desdemona (both Shakespeare).
She left her fortune to a foundation in Weimar that provided for invalid actors and actresses.
