In 1972 Domenica Niehoff's husband shot himself beofre her eyes. After this event she started working as a prostitute in St. Pauli, Hamburg. Later she opened her own studio where she was a dominatrix. During the 1980s she appeared on television to promote legaliation of prostitution. She appeared in several movies, among them "Messalina, Kaiserin und Hure:" (1980). In 1993 Peter Kern made a documentary about her life.

From 1998 to 2000 she was managed the small pub Fick at the Fischmarkt in Hamburg but financial problems forced her to close it. In 2009 she was the first former prostitute to be buried in the Garten der Frauen (Garden of Women) at the Ohlsdorf cemetery.
