Johanna Meyer was the daughter of a civil servant that worked for the house of Salm. She decided that she wanted to be an actress when she was fifteen years old. After only one year of acting lessons in Braunschweig she debuted at the Court Theatre in that citry. In 1862 she went to Königsberg where she was engaged for two years where she worked as an actress but also finished school. In 1864 she debuted at the Court Theatre in Munich. She quickly became popular there and played many different parts. After ten successful years in Munich she fell ill and died after eight days, aged only 29. |
