Fred Raul was of Hungarian descent. He performed in theatres in Graz, Stettin, Augsburg and Leipzig. From 1949 onwards he was engaged as director and singer at the Landestheater in Salzburg and in 1956 he moved to the Tiroler Landestheater in Innsbruck. He played in a number of movies from 1957 to 1961. They were directed by Georg Jacoby and Jacoby's wife Marika Rökk had parts in them. Jacoby died in 1964 and in 1968 Raul married Marika and he also acted as her manager. He died in 1985 and was buried at the Helenenfriedhof in Baden.
