Christiane Maybach took acting lessons at the Schauspielschule of the Schillertheater from 1956 onwards. She also took ballet lessons and from 1957 to 1958 she was engaged at the theatre in Zürich. In 1959 she worked under Gustaf Gründgens at the Schauspielhaus in Hamburg.

In Vienna she played several parts that had been played by Marilyn Monroe in the corresponding movies because she looked like her. Her first movie was "Fanfaren der Liebe" (1951). Later she worked with Rainer Werner Fassbinder in "Berlin Alexanderplatz" (1980) and other movies.

In 1992 she had a part in the German soap series "Gute Zeiten, Schlechte Zeiten" and from 1994 to 2005 she could be seen in another soap series, "Unter uns". She died in 2006 of cancer at her home in Cologne. She never married and had no children.
