Lotte Medelsky was educated at the Conservatory in Vienna from 1894 onwards. On 23 Nov 1896 she debuted in "Krieg im Frieden". Her teacher Alexander Strakosch helped her to an engagement at the Burgtheater when she was only seventeen years old and soon she had the parts of Gretchen in "Faust" *1897) and Christine in "Liebelei" (1898).

She worked for the Burgtheater until she retired 1946 and played many different parts. Among them were premieres of works by Gerhart Hauptmann and Arthur Schnitzler. For many years she gave guest performances at the Festspiele in Salzburg.

In 1901 she married the actor Eugen Frank and with him she lived partly in Hietzing and partly in Nußdorf am Attersee. Their children Liselotte (1907-1981) and Hans (d.1946) also became actors.
