Constanze Engelbrecht was the daughter of the actress Alice Franz and the sculptor Gen Golch. She studied classical singing in Munich, Salzubrg and London. After that she took acting lessons with Rosemarie Fendel and she became well known for many parts in television movies and television series. She also performed as a soprano.

Since 1980 she lived with the actor. François Nocher. They had a daughter, Julie (b.1984), and married later. Since 1998 she suffered from breast cancer that spread to the liver. She was treated intensively but she died in 2000 with her husband François Nocher near her. She was buried with her father who had died in 1979. Her mother survived her until 2011.
