Helene Ginzburg was born as the fifth child in a Jewish family. She studied law at the École de Droit and finished her studies with a promotion. Back in Ukraine her diploma's weren't recognized and she wasn't admitted to the Chamber of Law.

She married Arnold Halperin and worked as councillor for organisations for children, equal rights of women and rights for prisoners. From 1919 onwards she wanted to leave the Soviet-Union and in 1921 she emigrated to Berlin with her husband. There she died in 1922. Her writings were published in Russian under the name of Elena Abramovna Golperina-Ginzburg.
