Eva Lissa studied at the Max-Reinhardt-Schule in Vienna. In her youth she wrote poetry. In Vienna she met her future husband Pietro Schubert, who was the manager of two small theatres in that city.

She debuted in Zürich and was worked in Berlin, München and Vienna before Boleslaw Barlog engaged her at the Schillertheater in Berlin in 1952. There she was successful in many parts.

During the 1950s and 1960 she could often been seen at the stages in Berlin. She disappeared from view for a long time, but in 1983 she made her return. Her last success was her part in "Harold and Maude" at the Renaissance-Theater.
