Klara Ziegler became an actress against the wishes of her parents and she made her debut in Ulm. In 1862 she played in "Jungfrau von Orleans" in Bamberg and later she worked at the Gärtnertheatre in Munich and the Court Theatre in Leipzig.

From 1868 to 1874 she was a member of the Court Theatre in Munich. She married the actor Adolf Christen. After her death her house near the Englischen Garten in Munich and her fortune were used to open a Theatre Museum in 1910. The Ziegler-villa was destroyed during the bombings of 1944, but in 1953 the museum was reopend in the Hofgarten and in 1979 it became a State Museum.
