Karoline von Schiller was the daughter of the poet Johann Christoph Friedrich von Schiller and his wife Charlotte von Lengefeld. She worked as a governess at the court of duke Eigen von Württemberg. She left the court after an affair with a colleague and moved to Heidelberg to work at a girls' school.

On 26 Jun 1836 she married the widowed civil servant Franz Junot, who had six childeren. They had one child of their own, Karl Felix, but he died after his fifth birthday.

She founded a girls' school in Rudolstadt, the Schillerinstitut. During a visit to her sister in Würzburg she died and she was buried there.
