Entered the École des Beaux-Arts in Bordeaux when he was fourteen
and with the help of painter Jean-Gabriel Domergue the École
Superieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris when he was sixteen. His "Ariane abandoned by Thésée" was entered for the Prix the Rome contest of 1947. In 1953 he carved Eisenhower's bust and from then on he illustrated children's books, designed record sleeves, book covers, etc. From 1963-1981 he drew a monthly pin-up for LUI magazine. In 1970 Aslan made a bust of Brigitte Bardot as Marianne, in 1971 he did Charles de Gaulle and in 1978 Mireille Mathieu. In 1989 he completed the superb stone sculpture of Dalida for her grave at the Montmartre Cemetery in Paris. In 1989 he carved a bust of Georges Pompidou. Related persons made a sculpture of Dalida |
