Lotte Lang was educated at a school for commerce and worked in an office before she decided to train as an actress. In 1925 she debuted at the Landestheater in Linz, where she remained until 1928. After engagements in Hamburg, Brünn and Munich she returned to Vienna. There she worked at the Volkstheater, the Raimundtheater, the Volksoper.

Eventually she was engaged at the Theater in der Josefstadt, where she stayed from 1945 until the end of the 1970s and she played over 50 different parts. She became a honorary member of the Theater in der Josefstadt.

In 1932 she appeared in her first movie, "Die Zwei vom Südexpress". She made many more movies and worked with Theo Lingen and Hans Moser. After the movie offers detoriated in the 1960s she also worked for television.
